Taking the opportunity of the day against children obesity on October 24th and 27th , teachers and pupils of A’ class of the 11th junior highschool of Ilion ate together breakfast at school.

Under the supervision of Mrs Mitrosili, home economics teacher and Mrs Avramidou, biologist, who teach Nutrition and Health in their classes, pupils prepared several delicious and healthy breakfast food, brought them at school and ate all together, while discussing about healthy food choices, body exercising, good and bad diet habits.

Breakfast buffet included:

  • Milk, dairy products such as yogurt, butter and margarine (rich in polusaturated fats) and eggs
  • Homemade bars of cereals with choco flakes, cakes, muffins and other cereal products (mostly prepared with brown sugar and stevia)
  • Bread of whole grain cereals, toasted rye bread, toasts of whole grain wheat.
  • Fresh fruits and
  • Fresh orange juice and Smoothies – THE BEST SELLER- instantly prepared at schoolAfter eating, an open discussion and short interviews took place among pupils in order to express their impressions and to answer questions about their diet.Furthermore, a worksheet was given to them that included a weekly diet table that they had to complete in order to incorporate breakfast in their daily routine. The aim of this action was to enforce pupils to have a rich breakfast every morning to get energy and healthy food choices .
